Mike still has the great sense of humor that he was known for over the years, and his family has a healthy dose of it as well. It was great to reconnect, share old memories and create new ones, and also good that Debbie and these friends were able to get to know one another. The whole family is pictured here.
Mike and Anne’s son Ryan took Debbie for a kayak ride on the lake. Despite choppy waters due to a stiff breeze, they returned from the ride reinvigorated. This lake is part of the Wisconsin River, a result of a dam.
The accommodations and the cabin were both lovely. And the meals were good, too. The family keeps a small orchard as a hobby, both at home and at the cabin. One of the meals featured veggies from the garden served over pasta, while Chef Mike outdid himself preparing made-to-order breakfast. Debbie and Tim slept in the “bear room,” which took Debbie some time to get used to! By the time we left, she had developed a fondness for one of the wall hangings, as you can see here.
We decided to stay on for another evening and leave early in the morning for Iowa to resume our bicycling adventure.
Gotta tell ya guys, I like the bear!! Poor bugger probably wouldn't agree though, and I can see his point. Looks like a drop down below Chicago on your route. Good Choice!! Can't believe how the weather has treated you on the road. Think you've had a little intervention from above. Good Traveling Jim
ReplyDeleteGreat that you got to see Mike and his family. I see he still has the same hobby. Tim, when are you going to join Debbie kayaking? I've noticed her in the pictures on the water but not you. We have ours here waiting for you to try them out. love Kathy and Tom
