We breakfasted at McDonald’s and ventured off to another ride up the shore of Lake Erie. We were joined by a man who was vacationing in the area. He invited us to his family reunion later in the day! As we kept progressing toward Buffalo on Lake Shore Drive, the houses and services came closer together. Lucrative homes and estates became more prevalent as well, many of which had “for sale” signs on them. Before leaving Lake Shore Drive, we had a long distance view of the Buffalo skyline. The photo below shows the faint outline under the overcast weather conditions.
We stopped at one point to check a rattle from Debbie’s bike, fearing that it was a loose rack. A lady on a four-wheeler came down from her house to see if she could help. We ended up having a conversation with her and her friend, who filled us in on the Buffalo area.
We stayed the night in Hamburg, New York, a suburb of Buffalo of about 10,000 people. The crew at “The NOW Pizzeria” were most intrigued by our adventure. It is interesting to see the reactions of people and let them enjoy our experience. We checked into the hotel just in time to beat the rain!
Hey Tim and Deb, Really don't know how you've managed to avoid the rain in all this time on the road. Just unreal! New York is (from what I've found in the last few years) a really great state if you stay away from the metro areas. Absolutely beautiful! Probably cause it reminds me of Maine. Oh well, call me a home boy. How are you ever going to settle back down when you reach home?? You have both probably developed a permanent case of itchy feet syndrome by now. Actually, nothing at all wrong with that as long as it affects you both equally come to think of it...Good Traveling, Jim
ReplyDeleteSo which one of these little bungalows have you decided to purchase? Nice view of the lakes. The weather ahead for NY doesn't look too promising. Your luck of no rain appears to have run out. Good thing you're close to home. Take care riding in the rain and enjoy the last week of biking. love, Kathy and Tom
ReplyDeleteI hope the rain ceased so that you could really enjoy Niagara Falls. Maybe that beautiful rainbow will appear. I have the same feeling your friend Jim has, that it will be hard to settle down after such an experience, or maybe you will be ready to settle down, put up your feet ad relax? Hope the rain was just a shower. Love, Mom
ReplyDeleteYou are really making progress! Hope you do get to Niagara Falls-do you remember going there when the Sauters lived in Buffalo? We even visited the Falls in the winter when they were all frozen-beautiful. We are having lots of rain down here in Florida. Hope you have clear skies. Call if you get to Pittsford. XXX Mom
ReplyDeleteWOW! You are really moving along. Enjoy Niagra Falls - I'd go back there in a flash! We had a whole day of rain here today - the first one all summer. The grass and the flowers are saying AAAHHH! Somehow I can't picture Deb sitting down and putting her feet up to relax!!!! I have so enjoyed coming on the ride with you. Take good care and give each other a big squeeze for me. Love, Chris
